Inspection, Service, and Maintenance of Your Trinity Belt Trailer

Inspecting and servicing your Eagle Bridge belt trailer periodically is critical for keeping it fully functional and operating safely. Routine maintenance also allows you to catch and fix issues early, preventing major problems and saving you money in expensive repairs.

Daily inspection of your Trinity Belt Trailer

Preventative maintenance schedule for your Trinity Belt Trailer

The following schedule is recommended for general preventative maintenance for Trinity Belt Trailers. The suggested intervals are for nominal operating conditions. More frequent service is recommended for overly dusty or humid conditions.

After the first 50-100 miles

  • Inspect wheels’ cap nuts or flange nuts torque

After the first 1,000 miles

  • Inspect suspension hardware torque
  • Inspect suspension alignment

After the first 50 operating hours

  • Replace the hydraulic filter and oil
  • Replace the planetary gearbox oil

Every 100 operating hours

  • If applicable, clean the gasoline engine spark arrester

Every 250 operating hours

  • Replace the hydraulic oil filter

Every 2,500 miles or bi-weekly, whichever comes first

  • Use a spray lubricant (i.e. WD40) to lubricate the maintenance ladder’s pins and bolted connections
  • Inspect all maintenance ladder bolted connections to confirm they’re tight

Every 5,000 miles or monthly, whichever comes first

  • Use water and a mild detergent to wash the trailer thoroughly
  • Inspect general structural condition for cracks or corrosion
  • Evaluate kingpin area
  • Inspect air-ride suspension system clearances and torque, if applicable
  • Visually inspect suspension alignment
  • Check lights’ condition
  • Inspect registration box security and any required paperwork
  • Inspect wiring harness for chafing or cracking
  • Check pneumatic and hydraulic lines for indications of wear or leakage
  • Drain air reservoirs of moisture
  • Inspect rear door hinges for indications of damage
  • Lubricate rear door bearings, latches, or hinges, if applicable
  • Inspect tires for significant wear and proper inflation
  • Check wheel nuts for proper torque
  • Inspect wheel seals for leaks
  • Check axles’ oil level
  • Check conveyor system for significant wear and other damage
  • Inspect tarp system conditions, if there’s a tarp system
  • Inspect mud flaps’ security and general condition
  • Check planetary gear oil level on conveyor hydraulic, adding more oil as needed

Every 15,000 miles or three months, whichever comes first

Complete all of the items listed above as well as the following.

  • Inspect all hardware, tightening any loose nuts and bolts and replacing any missing or damaged hardware as needed
  • Clear the kingpin of grease, inspecting it for significant cracks and other wear
  • Measure suspension alignment, adjusting as needed
  • Check all suspension welded joints and connections
  • Inspecting for proper torque on the suspension system’s nuts and bolts
  • Replace hub bearing lubricant
  • Lubricate automatic slack adjusters
  • Check brake drums, lining, and shoes
  • Test brake operation
  • Inspect brake lines for chafing and other wear
  • Lubricate conveyor front shaft bearings and chains
  • Inspect front and rear chain sprocket and bearings condition for wear and other damage
  • Inspect trailer and floor lining for cracks and other damage
  • Check glad hand seal condition
  • Lubricate door seals
  • Service gasoline engine, adhering to the manufacturer’s recommended procedures, if applicable
  • Inspect aluminum sidewall extensions for cracking and other damage, if applicable

Annually

Complete all of the items listed above as well as the following.

  • Drain and replace reservoir’s hydraulic fluid
  • Replace hydraulic filter and oil, every 1,000 hours or annually, whichever comes first
  • Replace planetary gearbox oil, every 1,000 hours or annually, whichever comes first
  • Lubricate landing legs
